Helen Brackley-Jones was appointed as Stockport Symphony Orchestra’s new leader in the 2017/18 season. Having freelanced with various orchestras throughout Britain since 1998, Helen became a member of the BBC Philharmonic in 2006, leaving in the summer of 2014 to focus more on family life. She now divides her time between her young family, orchestral playing, teaching violin both at Huddersfield University and privately, and examining at the RNCM.
When time permits, Helen also loves to undertake solo work. Solo appearances have included the Bruch violin concerto, Prokofiev’s second violin concerto with Bolton Symphony Orchestra, and more recently the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Blackpool Symphony Orchestra. Audience members who attended our October 2016 concert will remember her stunning playing of the solo violin part for Ein Heldenleben and in March 2018 she played the demanding violin solo in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.
